At the Northwest Spellers Alliance, we believe communication is a basic human right. We are an alliance of professionals dedicated to helping nonspeakers communicate effectively through alternative methods.

Here’s what we do.

Provide Personalized Support

We provide personalized support and guidance to nonspeakers, minimal speakers, and unreliable speakers who use spelling as a method of communication.

Organize Community Events

We organize community events that allow spellers to come together, share experiences, and build connections.

Create Inclusive Spaces

We create inclusive spaces where spellers can connect, learn, and grow together.

Our mission is to help nonspeakers achieve autonomy and agency. We do this by teaching nonspeakers the motor skills needed to point to letters and spell as a method of communication. Our goal is to help all nonspeakers have the ability to communicate in a robust and reliable way.
